Wild beaches of Kopalino and Lubiatowo - where wide sand and milky dunes

The coastline around Kopalino and Lubiatowo is one of the widest and wildest stretches of the Polish Baltic Sea. Discover what makes these beaches stand out and how to get there.

If you dream of a beach without crowds, fish and chips every ten meters, and lines to get in, the Choczewo commune coast is for you. The Kopalino–Lubiatowo section is famous for some of the widest sandy beaches in Poland.

The beach in Kopalino

A path through a pine forest leads to the beach in Kopalino, about 2 kilometers from the village center. The shore is wide, with fine, light-yellow sand, and beyond the beach rise milky dunes covered with grass. The entrance to the sea is gentle, which families with children will appreciate. This is a wild beach in the best sense of the word: undeveloped, yet spacious and quiet.

The beach in Lubiatowo

About 2 km away lies Lubiatowo, with the area's most famous beach entrance, No. 44. With ample parking and easy access, Lubiatowo is often more popular than Kopalino itself. The beach is equally wide, and the dunes on this part of the coast are among the highest in the region.

Why are the beaches so wide?

This section of the Kashubian Coast is a dune area: sand blown from the sea by the wind creates vast ridges that separate the beach from the forest. Dune grasses stabilize the ground, so please avoid trampling the dunes outside designated areas. They protect the shore from storms.

What to take to a wild beach

  • Water and snacks - there are not always refreshment points at the beach entrances.
  • Sunscreen and a hat – the sun is strong on the open shore.
  • Comfortable shoes — the path through the forest can be sandy.
  • Garbage bag - we leave the wild beach clean, just as we found it.

Off season

In spring and autumn, the beaches of Kopalina and Lubiatowa are almost deserted. This is the time for walkers, storm photographers, and those searching for amber, which washes ashore from the Baltic Sea after stormy weather. In winter, the dunes are covered in frost, and the shore belongs only to those who value silence.

Regardless of the season, one thing remains the same: the local beaches offer space, air and views to the horizon.
